Job summary

Michaels Stores in Houston is seeking an energetic events coordinator to plan and run in-store events, including kids’ birthday parties and craft classes. You will engage customers, guide activities, enroll them in Rewards and Private Label Credit Cards, and coordinate event logistics from start to finish.

Ideal candidates have strong people skills, experience with children’s events, and a proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a retail environment.

• Experience planning children's events including parties.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to engage guests of all ages.
• Excellent communication, written and verbal.
• Able to organize events, coordinate teams and tasks.
• Retail or customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
• Engage clients of all ages and create a fun, creative environment.
• Demonstrate and instruct participants in crafts; lead activities and provide entertainment.
• Coordinate add-ons (goody bags, balloons) and ensure company standards.
• Handle event communications with clients and store team members.
• Perform administrative tasks like emails and calls; adjust plans based on feedback.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness standards; set up and break down events.
• Cross-train in framing sales and production as needed.
• Support store operations: stocking, planograms, and merchandising recovery.
