Job summary

Maxwood Furniture, a rapidly growing furniture company, seeks a Creative Director to lead the creative vision across its brands. Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Ecommerce, this director-level role oversees design, production, photography, video, social content, creator partnerships, editorial, and copywriting to build a compelling, cohesive brand identity for Maxwood's portfolio.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive creative leadership experience, including at least 3 years leading multidisciplinary creative teams at the Director level or equivalent.
  • Extensive ecommerce or direct-to-consumer marketing experience.
  • Experience managing creative across multiple brands simultaneously.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating work across branding, digital marketing, social media, product marketing, and campaign development.
  • Experience leading high-volume creative production for ecommerce businesses.
  • Proven success building, developing, and retaining high-performing creative teams.
  • Experience collaborating with Brand, Product, Performance Marketing, and Digital Experience teams.
  • Exceptional creative judgment with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between brand building and commercial performance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for emerging creative technologies, AI-assisted workflows, creator marketing, and evolving digital content strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the creative vision across all brands while ensuring each brand maintains its own distinct identity.
  • Establish and uphold creative standards across design, photography, video, copywriting, editorial, and social content.
  • Develop and maintain brand guidelines that empower creativity while ensuring consistency.
  • Champion creative excellence across cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Continuously identify emerging trends, creative technologies, AI tools, and innovative approaches that strengthen the company's creative capabilities.
  • Lead the overall content strategy across all brands and marketing channels.
  • Oversee editorial direction and copywriting to ensure every brand communicates with a consistent and compelling voice.
  • Partner with Social Media and Creator Partnership teams to build engaging organic content strategies.
  • Develop creator and UGC programs that authentically strengthen each brand's identity.
  • Lead creative production across photography, video, design, and digital assets.
  • Establish quality standards for photography, video production, and creative execution across every customer touchpoint.
  • Manage relationships with external creative agencies, photographers, production vendors, and other creative partners.
  • Improve creative workflows and production efficiency while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Partner with Brand Directors to translate brand strategy into compelling creative campaigns.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to bring product positioning and storytelling to life.
  • Work closely with Digital Experience teams to ensure creative assets support conversion and customer experience.
  • Partner with Performance Marketing to continuously optimize creative based on campaign performance and customer insights.
  • Lead and develop a team of creative leaders across Design, Production, Social Media, Creator Partnerships, and Editorial.
  • Foster a creative culture built on collaboration, honest feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach managers and team members while creating opportunities for growth and development.
  • Establish effective creative processes, briefing standards, and project prioritization across the organization.

Since launching over two decades ago, we have built a strong multi-brand business across our direct-to-consumer websites and leading third-party marketplaces. Role Overview

The Creative Director is responsible for leading the creative vision and execution across Maxwood's portfolio of brands. Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Ecommerce, this role oversees Graphic Design, Production, Photography, Video, Social Media, Creator Partnerships, Editorial, and Copywriting while ensuring every piece of creative work reflects the quality and identity of our brands. This is a Director-level leadership position that partners closely with Brand, Digital Experience, Performance Marketing, Product, and Executive Leadership to build one of the most creatively compelling furniture companies in the DTC space.
