Job summary

Aramark Correctional Services is seeking a cook to bring recipes to life in a correctional facility kitchen in New Jersey. You will work with fresh ingredients and a range of equipment, exploring different cuisines and cooking styles while following safety guidelines.

The role emphasizes producing high-quality meals, maintaining cleanliness, and delivering excellent service. Experience as a cook and knowledge of food safety are required; commitment to safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook or in a related role is required.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation principles and cooking methods; sanitation and storage.
• Must be able to obtain food safety certification.
• Ability to perform basic math and counting tasks.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of foods according to production guidelines and recipes.
• Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, chopping, and peeling.
• Safely use utensils including knives.
• Operate ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use different cooking methods.
• Arrange, garnish, and portion food per guidelines.
• Store food properly following safety policies.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor toward guests, customers, and co-workers.
• Follow Aramark safety policies and sanitation procedures.
