Job summary

Giant Eagle is seeking a Cake Decorator to craft beautiful cakes and pastries, while delivering exceptional guest service. You will work as part of the Bakery team to prepare and decorate products, ensuring freshness and visual appeal for in-store displays and events.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
• Education: No High School diploma required
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
• Age at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Fill tables and cases with cakes by taking product from prep area to sales area.
• Follow proper procedures to ensure store meets out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and WOW the guest.
• Take special orders from guests over the telephone and in person.
• Maintain quality of product for sale by checking sales area for dates and condition of product.
• Document and/or record daily known loss.
• Maintain safety as the top priority in all aspects of our work.
• Provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers and helping them locate products.
• Inspire fellow Team Members and guests with a passion for food and a willingness to go the Extra Mile to provide the best product.
• Properly handle products and equipment in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, floor, etc.
• Prepare and decorate product for Bakery cases and displays, rotate product and ensure code dating procedures are followed.
• Maintain proper safety and sanitation methods and housekeeping to ensure department standards are met.
• Accurately record special orders on Bakery products to delight the customer.
• Stay up-to-date with product knowledge and procedures (seasonal items, cake program, etc.).
• Ice and decorate cakes by applying icing with spatulas and bags.
• Prepare icing and products for all cakes by reading recipes and mixing ingredients.
• Assist in maintaining Bakery backroom, cooler and freezer efficiency.
