MJHS is seeking a licensed creative arts therapist to cover Nassau County and Queens, delivering interventions for end-of-life care in home or facility settings. You will perform initial assessments, triage referrals, and document care per standards.
The role includes supervising interns and contributing to research, education, and marketing efforts to advance the program. You must hold NY license or permit and CBMT certification, with at least one year of related hospice or medical setting
Field position will cover Nassau County, NY and Queens, NY.Our groundbreaking hospice and palliative care programs offer a significant difference when dealing with a life-limiting condition. We offer a broad range of services in the community or facility-based to help patients and their families ease the burden of managing a life-limiting illness or end of life care.This position utilizes creative arts therapy interventions to provide the clinical assessment and treatment of physical, psychosocial, and spiritual end-of-life issues for patients, caregivers, and bereaved persons in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan-of-care.
Participates in the clinical training and supervision of creative arts therapy interns; and supports special programming, research, education and marketing efforts to promote the organization’s mission and growth.Effectively accepts, triages, and follows-up on all referrals for creative arts therapy servicesFollows professional and regulatory visit procedures for home and facility-based health care,including office-based counseling and groupsProvides a comprehensive clinical assessment at the initial visit, and updates accordinglyExecutes a variety of appropriate creative arts therapy interventions to meet the client’s needsProvides clinical documentation according to agency guidelines and medical record standardsPromotes the mission and growth of the organization and the creative arts therapy programCurrently NY-State licensed or practicing under permit in the field of creative arts therapy, and nationally board certified in the field of music therapy through the Certification Board for Music Therapists.Minimum of one year experience working as a creative arts therapist in either hospice, palliative care, or acute medical settings (academic internship placement hours may be considered as a portion of this experience).
