Job summary

Sandvik is seeking a Crate Builder in Romeoville, IL for our 2nd shift (Mon-Fri 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM) in the Outbound Operations team. This is a hybrid position combining crate building with outbound warehouse duties onsite.

Responsibilities include safely operating power tools and a forklift, building crates for domestic and international shipments, counting and verifying inventory, inspecting products for damage, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years carpentry experience.
• Follow written instructions or specs to build crates and stands.
• Proficient with electric/manual powered equipment (table saws, drills, nail gun, measuring devices).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate power tools and forklift with limited supervision.
• Build wood crates for machinery for domestic and international shipments.
• Count, verify and move items safely and accurately; document as needed.
• Inspect products for damages and ensure proper quality and counting.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and perform other warehouse duties as needed.

Sandvik Mining & Rock is recruiting for a Crate Builder for our Romeoville warehouse Outbound Operations on our 2nd Shift (Mon-Fri 2:00P M-11 :00PM ).This is a hybrid position as a crate builder along with working in our Outbound Operations.Main responsibilities Include:Safely operate power tools and forklift with limited supervisionMaintain a clean organized work area for safe operationsAbility to build wood crates for our machinery for shipments both domestic and internationalAbility to build custom wood crates for packages for various size/weight machineryPull parts from inventory for crating/packaging jobsResponsible for counting, verifying and moving items and quantities safely and accurately throughout the facility. Counting and verifying may be performed manually using paperwork or through the automated WMS function using an RF devicePerform other warehouse operations such as other MHE, Dock and/or Tablework functions, inspection of product to look for damages and ensure proper quality and counting of product based on vendor/customer order quantities.Experience and Required Competencies1-2 years’ carpentry experienceAbility to follow written instructions or specifications to build pallets, crates and standsProficient in the use of electric and manual powered equipment such as table saws, skill saws, radial arm saws, drills, nail gun, measuring devices, drill bit and hardwareAbility to work both independently and as a teamMust be able to operate a forklift and lift truckHigh School or equivalent experience. Post-secondary education/training in business or supply chain discipline would be of advantage.Desirable English Proficiency: Intermediate (CEFR B1/ Completed EF level 6)Required CompetenciesExperience in carpentry, Warehouse Distribution and or Supply Chain environment and attention to detail.
