Job summary

Capco Crane & Hoist, Inc. seeks a skilled Crane Technician to service overhead crane systems and perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on hoist equipment.

The role requires hands-on installation work, strong safety discipline, and excellent communication with customers and team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive crane experience, the ability to work at height, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years troubleshooting cranes and hoist equipment.
  • Experience with 3-phase motors, VFDs, contactors, and circuits.
  • Overhead crane and scissor lift experience required.
  • Associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work at height and lift 50–100 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently and with customers.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Service overhead crane systems and hoists with quality installations.
  • Perform OSHA-equivalent inspections and warranty work.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and respond to emergencies.
  • Interfacing with customers and office to repair equipment.
  • Make electrical and/or mechanical adjustments or repairs.
  • Maintain rapport with customers and suggest improvements.
  • Document service actions with forms and checklists.
  • Maintain professional presentation and organization.
  • Develop knowledge of codes for overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Manage company equipment including vehicles and tools.

We are hiring a Crane Technician to join the team in Mobile, AL. The Crane Technician will provide quality installation, inspections, maintenance and repair service for hoist and crane equipment. A Crane Technician will also uphold the highest level of professional integrity and ethics as required to instill customer confidence and continued success in service.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Service overhead crane systems and hoists by performing quality installations.
  • Perform OSHA equivalent inspections; documenting and completing warranty work; troubleshooting breakdowns.
  • Perform preventive maintenance; and respond to emergency service/breakdown calls.
  • Support customers by effectively interfacing with customer and office in repairing equipment as needed.
  • Perform electrical and /or mechanical adjustments or repairs with or without engineered drawings.
  • Maintain rapport with customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; and recommending system improvements.
  • Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklist.
  • Maintain professional presentation, timeliness, appearance, and organization in all areas.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes for overhead cranes and hoists.
  • Responsible for company equipment including, company vehicle(s), tools, etc.
Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • 5 or more years' troubleshooting cranes and hoist equipment is required.
  • Experience with 3-phase motors, VFDs, contactors, and circuits.
  • Previous overhead crane and scissor lift experience required.
  • Associate's degree with concentration in Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Technology, preferred.
  • Ability to work at height, in extreme temperature and noisy locations. This is a physically demanding job involving standing, walking, sitting and the ability to lift 50-100lbs.
  • Perform inspections to OSHA criteria.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Capable of dealing directly with the customer and representing self and company in a professional manner.
  • Communication skills both internally and externally, informing both the company and the customer the status of the job.
  • Quality and results driven while maintaining a safety mindset.
  • Required to use own hand tools and meter.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
