Job summary

Capco Crane & Hoist, Inc. in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Crane Service Technician to install, inspect, maintain and repair hoist and crane equipment. The role requires 2–5 years of crane/hoist troubleshoot experience, strong electrical knowledge, and overhead crane/scissor lift experience.

Local travel is required; a valid driver’s license is essential. Applicants should have an Associate’s degree preferred in Industrial Electrician/Electro-Mechanical Technology and be able to work independently

Qualifications

• 2–5 years troubleshooting cranes and hoist equipment.
• Thorough electrical knowledge of 3-phase motors, VFDs, contactors, and circuits.
• Overhead crane and scissor lift experience required.
• Local travel to customers daily.
• Valid driver’s license; driving record/background check.
• Ability to work at height and in extreme temperatures; physically demanding (lift 50–100 lbs).
• Associate’s degree in Industrial Electrician/Electro-Mechanical Technology preferred.
• Ability to work independently and communicate job status clearly.
• Employment contingent upon motor vehicle record, background check, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Service overhead crane systems and hoists by performing quality installations.
• Perform OSHA equivalent inspections; documenting and completing warranty work; troubleshooting breakdowns.
• Perform preventive maintenance; and respond to emergency service/breakdown calls.
• Support customers by interfacing with customers and internal departments in repairing equipment as needed.
• Perform electrical and/or mechanical adjustments or repairs with or without engineered drawings.
• Maintain rapport with customers by reviewing complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improvements.
• Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklist.
• Maintain professional presentation, timeliness, appearance, and organization in all areas.
• Develop knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes for overhead cranes and hoists.
• Responsible for company equipment including vehicles, trailers, tools, etc.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Service overhead crane systems and hoists by performing quality installations.

• Maintain rapport with customers by promptly reviewing and addressing complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; and recommending system improvements.
• Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, and inspection checklist.
• Maintain professional presentation, timeliness, appearance, and organization in all areas.
• Develop a working knowledge of Federal, State, and local codes for overhead cranes and hoists.
• Responsible for company equipment including, company vehicle(s), trailers, tools, etc.

Education & Qualifications

• Local travel to customers on a daily basis required.
• Associate’s degree with concentration in Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work at height, in extreme temperature and noisy locations. This is a physically demanding job involving standing, walking, sitting and the ability to lift 50-100lbs.
• Perform inspections to OSHA criteria.
• Ability to work independently.
• Capable of dealing directly with the customer and representing self and company in a professional and courteous manner.
• Communication skills both internally and externally, informing both the company and customers of job status.
• Quality and results driven while maintaining a safety mindset.
• Required to use own hand tools and meter.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
