Job summary

Kokosing seeks a Crane Operator for projects in Washington, DC and Saluda, VA. You will load lift plans, position cranes, and work with a team across heavy civil and utility sectors.

Candidates should have NCCCO/LAT/TLL, a DOT card, and a valid DC license, with 5+ years of field experience. Expect rigorous safety standards, hands-on crane operation, and steady maintenance of equipment on site.

Qualifications

  • NCCCO/LAT/TLL certifications (or CIC equivalents) to operate the crane.
  • DOT medical card required.
  • DC Operators License required for Blue Plains project in Washington, DC.
  • 5+ years related experience on bridge or utility projects; commensurate with project requirements.
  • Must be able to read load charts and determine crane capacity and weight limits.

Responsibilities

  • Checks all fluids before starting engine.
  • Levels crane using inside cab controls and levelling bubble.
  • Observes load rigging or hookup and determines safety of load using load chart.
  • Operates within parameters of load chart.
  • Uses standard hand signals to communicate with ground personnel.
  • Manipulates crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.
  • Operates crane in a smooth, controlled manner.
  • Uses hoisting attachments as load requires (hook, sling, electromagnet, bucket).
  • Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanism.
  • Inspects crane for defects and reports any malfunctions immediately.
  • Operates crane safely and responsibly.
