The Crane Operator performs a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving crane operation, safety, lift, and maintenance. Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment for crane repair and maintenance, documenting work, and following safety policies.
This list highlights the core responsibilities and skills required for a third class mechanic in the Crane shop. The mechanic should demonstrate developing knowledge and the ability to perform tasks independently, with understanding of equipment, safety gear, and machinery.
Practical Theory Requirements: Demonstrate developing knowledge of crane operation, capacity, and care per OSHA standards.
Other Requirements: Ability to read, write, comprehend instructions, perform calculations, and wear PPE. Education minimum: High School Diploma/GED. Experience: 4-7 years relevant work. Certification in at least one crane type through NACB is required, with recertification every 3-5 years.
