Crane Operator

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports to: Branch Manager/Operations Manager

Southway is looking to add experienced full-time crane operators to our growing Branch. The following are a list of requirements; you must meet all of the requirements below to be considered for this position.

Summary

Ensures safety first, along with the safe lifting of loads, proper crane setup, and maintaining customer focus. Follows all state and federal laws while operating motor vehicles. Adheres to safety and environmental policies during job tasks.

Responsibilities

1. Review next day's job assignments and prepare all necessary rigging and equipment at the end of each shift.
2. Complete Field Ticket and submit to the local branch office, noting any chargeable equipment used.
3. Maintain a payroll book daily with hours worked, reporting hours to the branch by Monday 10:00 a.m.
4. If not on a job, inspect, clean, and perform maintenance on equipment, and stay productive.
5. Promptly answer phone/pager calls.
6. Assist in training on safe crane operation.
7. Review crane service and operation manuals periodically.
8. Clean, inspect, and organize equipment and facilities.
9. Read, interpret, and calculate load percentages using crane load charts and manuals.
10. Program crane computers and set up cranes safely on location.
11. Ensure signal persons understand and perform proper hand signals.
12. Perform proper rigging techniques for safe lifting.
13. Inspect crane, truck, and trailer, complete vehicle inspection reports, and submit them.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current state-issued Commercial Driver License (CDL).
• Current NCCCO crane operating license.
• At least 3 years of hydraulic crane operation experience.
• Ability to operate crane using hand signals.

Skills Required

• Good verbal and written communication skills for instructions, safety regulations, and record keeping.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
