Job summary

Orion Steel Group is seeking a hands-on Production/Shipping associate in Portland, OR. The role offers a starting wage of $25.00/hour with monthly incentive bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one.

You will inspect equipment, coordinate with crane operators, and manage storage, movement, and shipment of steel plate while maintaining accurate records and a safe work environment. A lean approach supports continuous improvement across shifts.

Qualifications

• Must work safely in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Able to work up to 12 hours per day, including weekends and overtime.
• Strong planning and organizational skills to meet department schedules.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• 6–12 months experience in an industrial environment preferred.
• Be able to learn and adapt to changing duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine equipment inspections according to department guidelines.
• Receive hot rolled steel plate and assist crane operators in transporting to floor laydowns.
• Direct activities of crane operators in storage and shipment of plate.
• Set-up railcars and trailers in preparation for loading of steel plate for shipments.
• Keep accurate and legible records.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Utilize lean skills to drive for continuous improvement.
