Job summary

Orion Steel Group, L.L.C. is hiring for a role based in Oregon. The starting wage is $25.00/hour with monthly bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts and cranes, loading/unloading scrap metal, maintaining equipment and records, and performing safety inspections. The role requires flexibility for rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Qualifications

  • Oregon Steel Mills Certified Forklift Operator certification required.
  • Oregon Steel Mills Certified Mobile Crane Operator certification preferred.
  • Strong math and numerical accuracy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime.
  • Able to learn, retain and apply new knowledge.
  • Work environment includes heat, humidity, dust and noise.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile equipment including forklifts, front loader, mobile cranes and heavy trucks.
  • Operate scrap burning equipment.
  • Unload and load scrap metal from trucks and railcars.
  • Grade incoming and outgoing scrap while keeping inventory separated.
  • Maintain equipment using basic hand tools.
  • Perform daily safety inspection of all equipment.
  • Keep accurate and legible records.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area; keep areas free from scrap and debris.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate mobile equipment including but not limited to forklifts, front loader, mobile cranes and heavy trucks
  • Operate scrap burning equipment

  • Knowledge of hand communicating signals for crane/ground communications
  • Able to use basic hand tools: wrenches, hammers, and screwdrivers
  • Able to work in environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, odors, dust, and noise.
