The Craft Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, recruiting, screening, and onboarding highly skilled craft professionals to support industrial construction, maintenance, turnaround, fabrication, and specialty service projects throughout the U.S. This role partners closely with operations, project management, and field leadership to identify workforce needs and develop strategic recruiting plans that ensure projects are staffed with qualified, safety-focused personnel.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience recruiting within industrial construction and maintenance environments and has a strong understanding of craft labor markets, certifications, site requirements, and workforce planning. Success in this role requires the ability to manage high-volume recruiting efforts while building long-term relationships with candidates, workforce development organizations, industry partners, and hiring managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, recruit, and attract qualified craft professionals through job boards, social media platforms, referrals, networking, trade organizations, workforce programs, and industry events.
- Develop and maintain active candidate pipelines for:
- Mechanical Craft
- Pipe & Specialty Welders
- Riggers
- Tower Specialists
- Fabrication Shop Personnel
- Tank Construction Personnel
- Technical Bolting Technicians
- Rope Access Technicians
- Conduct phone screenings and interviews to evaluate trade experience, certifications, work history, safety performance, and project readiness.
- Identify passive candidates through networking and relationship-building initiatives.
- Build and maintain a talent pipeline of qualified candidates available for immediate deployment.
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, construction managers, and field leadership to understand current and future staffing requirements.
- Develop recruiting strategies to support large-scale turnarounds, capital projects, maintenance contracts, and specialty service operations.
- Monitor workforce trends and labor market conditions to proactively address staffing challenges.
- Provide hiring managers with recruiting updates, candidate availability information, and market intelligence.
Compliance
- Verify candidate qualifications, certifications, and site-specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and client requirements, including:
- TWIC Card
- NCCER Certifications
- OSHA Training Requirements
- Craft Testing Programs
- Maintain complete and accurate recruiting documentation and candidate records.
Community Engagement & Business Development Support
- Represent the company at hiring events, trade schools, workforce development programs, career fairs, and community outreach events.
- Establish relationships with technical schools, workforce agencies, union and non-union organizations, military transition programs, and industry associations.
- Promote the company brand as an employer of choice within the industrial skilled trades market.
- Support strategic workforce development initiatives designed to attract and retain top talent.
Systems & Reporting
- Maintain candidate information within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and recruiting databases.
- Generate recruiting reports, workforce metrics, and pipeline analyses as requested.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with employment regulations and company standards.
- Track recruiting performance metrics including time-to-fill, candidate quality, sourcing effectiveness, and hiring volume.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of recruiting experience within industrial construction, maintenance, turnaround, fabrication, specialty services, or skilled trades environments.
- Strong understanding of industrial craft trades, certifications, and workforce requirements.
- Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), recruiting technologies, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of industrial safety requirements and site access procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving and workforce planning capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Staffing Professional (CSP)
- SHRM-CP or PHR Certification
- NCCER Knowledge or Certification
- Experience supporting refinery, chemical, petrochemical, LNG, fertilizer, midstream, offshore and onshore, power generation, renewables, and/or advanced manufacturing & technology projects.

Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with frequent interaction with field operations and project teams.
- Up to 35% travel is required to project sites, recruiting events, client locations, and workforce development programs.
- May require extended work hours during peak hiring periods, turnarounds, shutdowns, and major project mobilizations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and staffing demands simultaneously.
