Job description

Job Title: CQA Field Technician

Location: US-WI-Madison

Category: Field Services and Construction

Position Type: Full Time Regular

What we are looking for

At SCS, we are committed to sustainable environmental protection by collaborating with industry and regulatory agencies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and optimize operations at solid waste facilities. Our workplace culture is built on trust, care, and growth. We are seeking a CQA Field Technician for our Madison, WI office, who is eager to advance their career through training, mentoring, and hands-on experience. The role involves working in a collaborative environment with dynamic and challenging projects, primarily in the field (at least 80% travel, including overnight stays).

How you can make an impact
  1. Perform construction observation and documentation, including material sampling, laboratory data management, and surveying, ensuring compliance with project documents.
  2. Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and CQA Plans to verify project adherence.
  3. Prepare daily logs reporting data, observations, and recommended actions.
  4. Report field conditions and test results to supervisors and clients as appropriate.
  5. Conduct sampling and testing of soil, aggregate, and geosynthetics.
  6. Survey project features such as grades, material thickness, and piping.
  7. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and laboratories.
  8. Maintain and troubleshoot sampling and monitoring equipment.
  9. Document construction activities, health & safety plans, and other relevant reports.
  10. Participate in health and safety training, ensuring standards are followed on-site.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in environmental, civil, or related field (preferred).
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion or willingness to complete a 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Strong technical, mechanical, and computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel overnight and work weekends.
  • Ability to read construction drawings; knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and soil testing with nuclear density gauges are pluses.
  • Previous surveying experience is a plus.
Pay Range

USD $20.00 - USD $25.00 per hour
