Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a CPU STA CAD engineer to architect methodologies and maintain timing closure flows across worldwide CPU physical design teams.

You will work with EDA vendors to drive tool improvements and apply automation to ensure best power, performance and area for our CPUs. Preferred qualifications include strong STA experience on cutting-edge nodes, Python and Tcl scripting, and a mindset toward CI/CD and reusable code.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 6+ years of hardware/software/related experience; advanced degrees reduce experience needed.
  • Experience with STA on cutting-edge nodes and automation-minded coding practices.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and recommend methodology improvements to optimize power, performance and area.
  • Maintain, support and debug STA and timing closure (ECO) flows and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with worldwide CPU physical design teams and provide tooling support.
  • Work with EDA vendors to define roadmap and resolve tool issues.
  • Apply AI techniques to EDA workflows for log analysis and automation.

Your tools and flows will ensure our custom CPUs have industry-leading power, performance and area.Roles and ResponsibilitiesArchitect and recommend methodology improvements to ensure our silicon has the best power, performance and areaMaintain, support and debug STA and timing closure (ECO) flows, and resolve project-specific issuesWork closely with worldwide CPU physical design teams, and provide methodology guidance and tools/flows support.Work with EDA vendors to define roadmap and to resolve tool issues.Preferred Qualifications:Industry experience of Static Timing Analysis (STA) on cutting edge technology nodesProgramming/Scripting skills (Python and Tcl in particular) and an automation mindset.Coding with a focus on quality and reusability. Leverage static checking, Test Driven Development, CI/CD, etc to achieve high quality softwareExperienced in generating/optimizing/automating timing ECO closureDetailed understanding of STA concepts (e.g.: LVF/CCS/SSI/NBTI) and how they impact margins/deratesDebugging/Support with project deadlines in mindSynthesis/PnR experience with a focus on PPA optimization.Collaborate with EDA partners to determine/drive optimal and cutting-edge solutionsWeb/Database/Dashboards/Visualization experience a plus.Experience applying AI techniques to EDA workflows, including log analysis, root-cause investigation, metrics mining, knowledge retrieval, and automated generation of scripts, documentation, and test collateral.Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.ORMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.ORPhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
