Job summary

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a CPU STA CAD engineer to build and support analysis tools and flows for leading silicon designs. The role focuses on power, performance, and area optimization across CPU teams and integration with EDA vendors.

You will collaborate with global CPU physical design groups and drive automation, scripting, and timing ECO enhancements to meet project deadlines and quality goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 6+ years of hardware/software engineering or related work experience.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 5+ years of hardware/software engineering or related work experience.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field plus 4+ years of hardware/software engineering or related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and recommend methodology improvements to ensure silicon has best power, performance, and area.
  • Maintain, support and debug STA and timing closure flows, and resolve project-specific issues.
  • Work closely with worldwide CPU physical design teams and provide methodology guidance and tools/flows support.

As CPU STA CAD engineer, you will build and support the world’s best analysis tools and flows. Your tools and flows will ensure our custom CPUs have industry‑leading power, performance and area.

Roles And Responsibilities
  • Architect and recommend methodology improvements to ensure our silicon has the best power, performance and area
  • Maintain, support and debug STA and timing closure (ECO) flows, and resolve project‑specific issues
  • Work closely with worldwide CPU physical design teams, and provide methodology guidance and tools/flows support.
  • Work with EDA vendors to define roadmap and to resolve tool issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry experience of Static Timing Analysis (STA) on cutting edge technology nodes
  • Programming/Scripting skills (Python and Tcl in particular) and an automation mindset.
  • Coding with a focus on quality and reusability. Leverage static checking, Test Driven Development, CI/CD, etc to achieve high quality software
  • Experienced in generating/optimizing/automating timing ECO closure
  • Detailed understanding of STA concepts (e.g.: LVF/CCS/SSI/NBTI) and how they impact margins/derates
  • Debugging/Support with project deadlines in mind
  • Synthesis/PnR experience with a focus on PPA optimization.
  • Collaborate withEDA partnersto determine/drive optimalandcutting-edge solutions
  • Web/Database/Dashboards/Visualization experience a plus.
  • Experience applying AI techniques to EDA workflows, including log analysis, root-cause investigation, metrics mining, knowledge retrieval, and automated generation of scripts, documentation, and test collateral.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

OR

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Pay Range And Other Compensation & Benefits

$198,700.00 - $298,100.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
