Job summary

Central Plains Steel Co. in Wichita, KS seeks a 3rd shift Shipping & Receiving professional to load/unload trucks and maintain warehouse organization at Plant 1 (3900 N. Comotara, Wichita, KS 67226). This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 9:30pm–6:00am, with focus on safety, quality, and on-time deliveries.

You will pull/pack orders, operate yard truck, forklift and crane, and document movements. Competitive pay with benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Must meet Level 4 (Heavy Work) capacity.
• 0-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, and coordination.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math and measurements.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 60 pounds repetitively.
• Stand for sustained periods; push/pull 80 pounds.
• Must obtain certification to operate motorized handling equipment.
• Basic computer proficiency; warehousing experience preferred.
• High School diploma/GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generally responsible for completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
• Pulls and assembles orders based on shipping documentation.
• Coordinates and executes material handling.
• Performs quality control inspections.
• Sorts and packages parts; tags material for identification.
• Completes work order paperwork and documentation.
• Operates yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane for loading/unloading.
• Spot checks inventory; maintain proper tagging and records.
• Report irregularities to supervisor; maintain safe/clean work area.

The 3rd Shift Shipping & Receiving professionals are responsible for loading and unloading trucks for our delivery drivers and vendors, ensuring quality, and maintaining organization of the warehouse. This team works closely with the delivery and purchasing departments to meet or exceed goals for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Delivery.

Job Function

• Coordinates and executes material handling.
• Performs quality control inspections.
• Sorts and packages parts as directed.
• Tags material for proper identification and complete all required documentation.
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation.
• Operates yard truck, forklift, and overhead crane for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers.
• Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed.
• Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
• Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
• All other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills
