Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks a CPI Investigator I for field-based, frontline investigations across Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. You’ll interview families, assess safety, and coordinate with agencies to protect children.

This is a non-telework, full-time role with extensive community travel. The position requires flexibility, sound judgment, and the ability to manage high-pressure scenarios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree OR equivalent in social, human, or protective services field.
• Two years of relevant work experience for lower levels; higher for II/III.
• Examples include social service agencies or communities serving at‑risk populations.

Responsibilities

• Respond quickly in crisis situations involving children at risk.
• Conduct forensic investigations to determine abuse/neglect.
• Interview families and caregivers to gather information.
• Assess child safety and take actions to protect the child as needed.
• Document all relevant information and maintain timely records.
