Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking a CPI Investigation Worker Trainee Spec I–IV for the CPS Investigations Region 8 in New Braunfels. This full-time role requires conducting forensic investigations, interviewing involved parties, and ensuring child safety.

Expect on-call rotations and community travel as needed. The position emphasizes collaboration with law enforcement and medical professionals, with extensive documentation and compliance duties.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and family dynamics.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel and attend visits after hours; on-call rotation.
• Background in protective services or related social work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to crisis situations involving children in potential abuse or neglect.
• Conducts forensic investigations of reports of abuse/neglect to determine risk and safety.
• Interviews family members, caregivers, and professionals involved in cases.
• Documents findings and contributes to case management and court matters.
