Job summary

People Technology And Processes at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD seeks a Software Engineer III specializing in graphics support and web design. You will build and maintain custom websites and applications using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP and SQL to deliver mission-critical interfaces.

You will lead creative direction, manage project timelines, collaborate with developers, ensure strong UX and brand consistency, and comply with DoD cybersecurity standards across web assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Development, Graphic Design, or Web Design.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in web design, coding, and related tools.
  • Associates with 12+ years' relevant experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom websites and applications with multiple languages.
  • Utilize Photoshop, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint and web technologies.
  • Develop front-end UIs and back-end functionalities for public and internal sites.
  • Provide limited graphics support for internal SharePoint pages and content.
  • Monitor site performance and user behavior to improve usability.
  • Support event sites with customized features as needed.
  • Ensure DoD cybersecurity and accessibility standards compliance.

Scope:

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of web design projects, including leading creative direction, managing project timelines, collaborating with other developers, ensuring user experience, and maintaining brand consistency across a website. Provide web design and development services in support of CPE IEW&S communication and information platforms. This includes complex coding, maintenance, analytics, marketing integration, and user education. Produce uniquely tailored products that meet the specific needs of the organization. Be proficient in web programming, server operations, and the development of custom applications.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom websites and applications, including those that are not form-driven and require advanced programming capabilities using multiple languages such as HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Python, PHP, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint & other design tools as well as HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML. Utilizes knowledge of operating systems such as UNIX, Windows NT, TCP/IP.
  • Develop and implement front-end user interfaces and back-end functionalities across various platforms to support both public-facing and internal websites.
  • Provide limited support to graphics related efforts for the organizations SharePoint page and other internal content management systems.
  • Use analytics and monitoring tools to assess site performance and user behavior and make data-driven recommendations to improve usability and experience.
  • Build and support event registration and information sites with customized features tailored to mission requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and Army cybersecurity and accessibility standards when developing and maintaining web assets.
  • Develop technical documentation and configuration settings related to web security, backup procedures, and overall site architecture.
  • Provide backup support for digital and social media platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with web content strategies.
  • Provide back up support for other graphics related functions, including but not limited to event photography and production of awards.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree - Computer Science, Software Development, Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, Web Design.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience with demonstrated knowledge in conceptualization, layout, typography, photography, illustration, Web Design and animation, production, and prepress work with five (5) or more years of professional Web development/coding experience in: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint & other design tools as well as HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML.
  • Can be substituted with an Associate’s Degree and minimum twelve (12) years' experience in the field of Computer Science, Software Development, Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, Web Design. Additional years’ experience can substitute for field of study.
