Responsibilities

• Review and abstract clinical information from medical records to support accurate code assignment.
• Assign ICD and CPT codes for a variety of patient encounters.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with organizational policies, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Review clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Identify and address documentation discrepancies that may impact coding and billing.
• Collaborate with providers and team members to support accurate billing and reimbursement.
• Apply medical terminology, anatomy, and coding conventions to coding assignments.
• Independently manage routine coding assignments while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Escalate highly complex coding cases for review and resolution as appropriate.
