Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) seeks a Medical Coding Supervisor to lead the centralized ambulatory coding team across outpatient and clinic services in Texas. You will oversee coding accuracy, productivity, and education, collaborating with Coding Manager, Compliance, and Revenue Cycle to enforce CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM guidelines.

This role requires a high school diploma, 5+ years in medical coding or auditing, at least 1 year supervisory experience, and CPC or CCS

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in medical coding or coding auditing.
• At least 1 year of recent supervisory experience.
• CPC or CCS certification must be obtained within 12 months after hire and remain active.
• Ability to supervise and audit across outpatient, inpatient, and clinic services.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the centralized ambulatory coding team, ensuring timely and accurate coding of outpatient encounters.
• Monitor staff productivity and quality, providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to support ongoing professional growth.
• Perform coding and auditing functions to maintain understanding of workflows across multiple specialties.
• Collaborate with the Coding Manager, Compliance, and Revenue Integrity to ensure CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM guidelines adherence.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of coding policies, procedures, and standard work processes.
• Identify workflow or documentation issues and coordinate resolutions with leadership, providers, and staff.
• Participate in coding quality reviews and assist with corrective action and education plans.
• Assist in coordinating and delivering coding education for coders, faculty, and residents.
• Contribute to system testing, charge capture initiatives, and process-improvement projects.
• Serve as a resource for coders and providers regarding coding questions and regulatory updates.
