Great West Casualty Company seeks a Coverage Attorney to advise on motor carrier policy, prepare coverage opinions, and oversee litigation with outside counsel. This role emphasizes no billable hours and collaboration with claims teams.

Hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) from Knoxville, TN; Bloomington, IN; or Arlington, TX, with opportunities for national coverage. You will train staff, ensure compliant practices, and support complex claims topics.

Qualifications

• JD degree and active license to practice in at least one state.
• Insurance defense, litigation, regulatory compliance, or administrative law experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to multitask across complex claims issues.
• Critical and analytical thinking is essential for reviewing claims.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage opinions and memoranda on claims topics.
• Oversee litigation and declaratory judgment actions; supervise outside counsel.
• Foster consistent, efficient claims practices across departments.
• Provide counsel, training, and assistance to claims departments.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance.

As aCoverage Attorneyfor Great West, you will focus on the motor carrier policy, providing counsel, training, and assistance to the various claims departments to foster consistent, efficient, and appropriate claims practices. You will prepare coverage opinions and memoranda on claims legal topics as well as oversee litigation and declaratory judgment action while supervising outside counsel.

Location: Hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote) from any of our following locations:

Knoxville, TN

Bloomington, IN

Arlington, TX

Qualifications

• JD degree. You must be licensed to practice in at least one state.
• Insurance defense, litigation, regulatory compliance, or administrative law experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with above-average multi-tasking skills and the ability to adapt quickly to situations that require an immediate transition.
• Critical and analytical thinking skills are a must for reviewing complex claims issues.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
