Grand Traverse County Bailiffs provide essential courtroom security and assist the judge to maintain order during trials. This on-call, part-time position supports 15–20 hours per week, requiring vigilance, physical readiness, and the ability to quickly assess and respond to incidents.

The role entails transporting inmates, enforcing courtroom rules, conducting searches, and coordinating with the Control Center to ensure safety and efficiency in court proceedings.

Formación

• Two years of corrections or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, punctuation.

Responsabilidades

• Open court and inform the judge that court is ready.
• Escort defendants to and from the courtroom and transport inmates as needed.
• Maintain courtroom security and enforce decorum during trials.
• Remove firearms or other dangerous devices from the courtroom and perform security sweeps.
• Take custody of jurors, assist with seating, and manage juror communications.
• Assist medical staff with emergencies and coordinate with court personnel as needed.
