Job summary

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office is seeking a certified Bailiff to maintain security and decorum in the courthouse, while supporting jurors and court operations. Responsibilities include emergency response, evacuations, and overseeing security posts and control room equipment.

Candidates must hold CJSTC/FDLE certification, be at least 21, and able to pass required physical agility and firearms training. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Preferred major: Law Enforcement or related field.
• Current, valid CJSTC/FDLE Law Enforcement Certification
• Must be at least 21 years old; United States citizen.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security and decorum in the courts and handle juror needs.
• Respond to emergencies within the courthouse and assist with evacuations.
• Operate security posts at main and employee entrances; monitor control room equipment.
• Open court and ensure efficient day-to-day operations in various judicial proceedings.
• Check jurors are present and arrange meals/lodging when necessary; protect seclusion of jurors.
• Call witnesses in court and take prompt action to resolve conflicts or disturbances.
• Inspect for suspicious persons and conduct inquiries as needed.
• Write reports as directed and assist with service of civil process when required.
