Job summary

The State of Maine Judicial Branch is hiring an Assistant Clerk at the Sagadahoc County Courthouse, West Bath. The role involves clerical work in the Clerk’s Office and in courtroom settings handling civil, family, and criminal cases with extensive public contact and high attention to detail.

Starting pay ranges from $22.65 to $23.82 per hour for entry level, with a Grade 10 scale up to $30.73 per hour. This is a full-time, on-site position offering comprehensive benefits and strong work-life

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience in customer service or clerical work/office admin or equivalent.
• Accurate keyboard skills, at least 45 WPM.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to learn detailed computer applications.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office demonstrated by training/education/work experience.

Responsibilities

• Docket, process, and file matters before the Court.
• Communicate effectively with the public, judges, attorneys, and agencies.
• Schedule pre-trial activities, trials, motions, and other proceedings.
• Handle and process fines, fees, and costs paid to or through the Court.
• Serve as courtroom clerk and assist the judge as required.
• Prepare abstracts and reports for various agencies.
• Operate electronic recording machines and logs.
• Participate in jury management activities.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Clerk.
