Job summary

The position is a 1000 hour temporary Bailiff role located at 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD. The incumbent will assist with courtroom decorum under the supervision of the Chief Bailiff and Deputy Bailiff, and support jurors and court staff throughout proceedings.

Primary responsibilities include opening court, signaling readiness for court, escorting jurors, maintaining order, and following Bailiffs' Handbook guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School/GED Diploma required.
• At least one year of strong customer service experience.
• Ability to read, comprehend and relay protocols and instructions.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Opens the courtroom.
• Informs the Judge that Court is ready to begin.
• Maintains order, decorum, and dignity of the Court.
• Escorts Jurors between the Jury Lounge and multiple courtrooms.
• Takes roll-call and ensures jurors are seated properly.
• Performs other tasks within the Bailiff’s role as needed.
