Job summary

Maryland Judiciary seeks a Bailiff to maintain day-to-day order, security, and safety for Judges, staff, visitors, and the public at the District Court in Prince George’s County. Responsibilities include screening entrants, operating metal detectors, and enforcing court procedures while preparing courtrooms for sessions.

Applicants must meet law enforcement training requirements, be able to pass medical and fitness evaluations, and may be called in during emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certified police officer with MPCTC certification required.
• Completion of required training program and probation period.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of Judges, staff, visitors and the public.
• Screen visitors and operate courthouse metal detectors.
• Prepare courtrooms and maintain order in proceedings.
• Possess ability to arrest on-site when necessary.
• Comply with evacuation and emergency procedures.
