Job summary

The City of Casper Municipal Court is seeking a part-time Court Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for judges, staff, defendants, and the public. The role involves a visible security presence, threat assessment, and coordination for court and City Council proceedings.

Ideal candidates have background in law enforcement, detention, courtroom security, or related fields; a high school diploma is required, with an associate degree preferred and P.O.S.T.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred in criminal justice, legal studies, or related field.
• P.O.S.T. certification or detention/command training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general security and safety in the courtroom for staff, judges, defendants, and spectators.
• Provide visible security presence for courtroom, City Council meetings; assess threats and remove disruptive individuals.
• Operate screening devices and search items for weapons or hazards.
• Monitor courtrooms and meeting spaces; intervene to prevent escalation of problems.
• Identify individuals in custody for scheduled appearances; assist public and defendants as needed.
