Job summary

The City of Phoenix is seeking a Municipal Court Security Officer to serve as the first line of defense for building security, employing walk-through and hand-held magnetometers, X-ray screening, and CCTV monitoring. The role includes mandatory 40-hour Court Security Officer training within 90 days and certification to standards set by the Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a security guard, police officer or military police.
• Within 90 days of hire, must complete a 40-hour Court Security Officer training course and be certified.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CJIS background standards and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling and observing building activities and screening entrants for prohibited weapons.
• Providing customer service and building relationships with customers.
• Answering routine inquiries and directing customers to appropriate areas.
• Assessing and solving problem situations with tact and judgment.
• Visually patrolling the building and grounds to observe unusual behavior.
• Preventing unauthorized access to restricted areas.
• Monitoring access control and CCTV systems.
• Completing log entries and incident reports.
• Ensuring all customers and staff vacate buildings and security checks at closing.
