Job summary

Washington County Sheriff’s Office is hiring Variable Hour Jail Deputies (VHJD) in Hillsboro, OR. Positions include court security, prisoner transport, and court appearances, with at-will hours up to 20 per week. A stipend helps offset medical insurance costs.

Ideal candidates hold DPSST certification, complete FTP, and have 1 year of relevant experience; background checks and firearms testing are required.

Qualifications

• Must have DPSST certification or equivalent
• Complete Field Training Program
• At least 1 year full-time experience as Corrections Officer/Jail Deputy/Police Officer
• Must be eligible for DPSST first aid and breathalyzer tests

Responsibilities

• Escort Adults in Custody (AIC) to and from court and medical appointments
• Facilitate court appearances, in person or virtually
• Conduct prisoner transports to detention facilities and state hospital
• Write criminal and disciplinary reports
• Make arrests and serve warrants
• Participate in ongoing division-level training and CALEA-compliant court security training
