Job summary

The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Superior Court Operations Division, seeks individuals for on‑the‑job training to record verbal testimony during courtroom proceedings using electronic equipment.

Successful candidates will set up, test and operate recording equipment; monitor recordings using earphones; create and maintain proper notes of court proceedings; prepare transcripts and appeal papers; assemble and maintain records and files; and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• One year of clerical experience and ability to produce accurate typewritten documents at 40 wpm.
• College training may substitute for General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half year of experience.
• Advancement after two years of satisfactory job performance, including the ability to type accurate and timely transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Set up, test and operate recording equipment in court proceedings.
• Monitor recordings using earphones and create/maintain notes of court proceedings.
