Job summary

The City of Tucson is seeking a Court Firearms Coordinator to manage the Firearms Transfer Assistance Program (FTAP) within the court system. The role collaborates with judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, law enforcement, and other court staff to ensure firearms transfer orders in high-risk DV cases are properly administered and recorded.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of relevant experience or equivalency.
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or another related field.
• Two years of experience in law enforcement, court, or another criminal justice setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with multiple courts to enforce firearms transfer provisions in high‑risk DV cases.
• Develop procedures to track firearm transfers to law enforcement as required by courts.
• Work with law enforcement to service protective orders and enforce release conditions.
• Coordinate with Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse to connect advocates for high‑risk victims.
• Plan trainings for law enforcement on risk assessment and for judicial officers.
