Job summary

The City of Tucson seeks a Court firearms coordinator to manage the Firearms Transfer Assistance Program within the court. You will coordinate with judges, county courts, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and law enforcement to ensure orders are properly administered and recorded.

You will develop procedures to track firearm transfers and work with various agencies to enforce high-risk protective orders. Training and outreach to the community are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of relevant experience.
• Equivalency may substitute education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Preferred Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
• Two years of experience in law enforcement, court, or related setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all functions of the FTAP within the court.
• Work with judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, law enforcement and court staff.
• Coordinate with Pima County courts and Tucson City Court on firearms transfer provisions.
• Develop and track procedures for transferring firearms to appropriate agencies.
• Plan training for law enforcement on risk assessment and for judicial officers.
