Job summary

The Superior Court of California, County of San Luis Obispo seeks a Court Commissioner to perform quasi-judicial duties under the judge's general direction. This temporary appointment allows presiding over civil, criminal and family matters as assigned.

Responsibilities include managing the court calendar, issuing rulings and orders, accepting pleas, presiding over hearings and trials, and ensuring proceedings comply with statute and court rules. Appointment is limited and governed by statute.

Qualifications

• Active membership in the State Bar of California required.
• Admitted to practice for at least five years with experience in Civil, Criminal, Family, Juvenile, Probate, and/or law and motion litigation.

Responsibilities

• Act as a temporary Judge in Court cases as directed by the Judge(s).
• Conduct a daily Court calendar and preside over hearings and trials.
• Make rulings, findings, judgments, and orders consistent with law and court rules.
• Review Court files and prepare related documents pertaining to case findings.
