Fresno Superior Court seeks a highly qualified Court Commissioner to perform a range of judicial functions as prescribed by law. The role may involve night/weekend shifts and emergency duties as assigned by the Presiding Judge.

The successful candidate will be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California, with at least ten years of legal practice in California (or combined CA/other state experience), and hold a valid California driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Membership in the State Bar of California in good standing.
• Admitted to practice law in California for at least ten years prior to appointment, or combined CA and other state experience totaling ten years, unless inactive membership due to prior judge/commissioner roles.
• Possession of a valid California Class "C" driver's license.

Responsabilités

• Act as a temporary judge in Superior Court cases; preside over hearings and trials, and issue rulings and orders.
• Arraign defendants; manage continuances; review petitions and motions; take evidence and determine court actions.
• Preside over family support, probate, criminal, traffic, civil and small claims matters as assigned; prepare court documents and supporting materials.
