Job summary

The Cayuse Language Connect, LLC is seeking a part-time Arabic interpreter to provide in-person interpretation for Arizona courts and related justice system entities. The role supports access to justice by enabling clear communication for individuals with limited English proficiency during legal proceedings.

This on-site, as-needed position requires travel within Arizona, is non-exempt hourly, and offers flexible scheduling with potential 24-48 hour notice for assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) or higher in Linguistics, Translation/Interpretation, Foreign Languages, Legal Studies, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience providing language services, with a preference for court or judiciary interpreting roles.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English, with strong command of legal terminology in both languages.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person, consecutive and/or simultaneous Arabic-English interpretation for Arizona courts and related justice system entities.
• Interpret accurately, completely, and impartially in a variety of legal settings, including court hearings, pretrial conferences, probation hearings, sentencing hearings, jail visits, forensic interviews.
• Adhere to ethical standards and professional codes of conduct; prepare for assignments by reviewing case-related materials; maintain clear communication with Cayuse coordinators and court personnel.
• Convey complex legal terminology and comply with Arizona court policies pertaining to interpreter services.
