Job summary

Cayuse Language Connect, LLC seeks a Kinyarwanda Interpreter to provide high-quality, in-person interpretation for Arizona courts. The role supports access to justice by enabling clear communication for individuals with limited English proficiency during legal proceedings. This is an as-needed, on-site, part-time hourly position with 24–48 hour advance notice for assignments and travel across the state.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation/Interpretation, Foreign Languages, Legal Studies, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional language services experience, preferring court/legal interpretation roles.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English with strong legal terminology.
• Arizona court interpreter certification or related qualifications listed in the ad.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person, consecutive and/or simultaneous Kinyarwanda–English interpretation for Arizona courts and related justice system entities.
• Interpret accurately, completely, and impartially in various legal settings (civil, criminal, family, etc.).
• Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and professionalism per court standards.
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing case materials and terminology.
• Communicate logistics with Cayuse coordinators and court personnel.
