Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group seeks a part-time courier to deliver laboratory specimens, mail, and supplies between MercyOne facilities. You will maintain routes with high customer service standards, ensure compliance with infection control and safety policies, and utilize courier software.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, a valid driver’s license, and a willingness to complete abuse training within three months of hire. Prior courier experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED is required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Two years' experience as a courier preferred.
• Valid Driver's License and meeting MercyOne's Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; must be at least 18 years old.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the delivery of laboratory specimens, mail and supplies between affiliated MercyOne facilities and laboratory customers.

What you will Do:

• Transports laboratory specimens, mail and other materials and/or supplies utilizing excellent customer service skills.

• Follows established procedures and policies including infection control and bloodborne pathogens.

• Handles chemicals according to established safety protocols.

• Meets defined workload productivity standards. Supports and utilizes LEAN principles.

• Utilizes courier logistical software and devices to track packages and document route

• Ensures temperature dependent materials are transported at their required storage temperature.

• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and courier bags.

• Attends and participates in department huddles.

• Follows established policies and procedures to accurately track packages and obtain optimal transport time.

• Participates in teaching peers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school degree or GED, required.

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

• Two years' experience as a courier, preferred.

• Working knowledge of materials management preferred.

• Valid Driver's/Chauffeurs License required, must meet MercyOne's Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.

• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire
