Job summary

Trinity Health MercyOne Central Iowa is seeking a part-time courier to deliver laboratory specimens, mail, and supplies between affiliated MercyOne facilities and customers. You will operate with a strong focus on safety, infection control, and customer service while meeting productivity standards.

You will use courier software to document routes, ensure proper temperatures for sensitive materials, and participate in department huddles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Two years’ courier experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of materials management preferred.
• Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet MercyOne’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire

Responsibilities

• Transports laboratory specimens, mail and other materials and/or supplies utilizing excellent customer service skills.
• Follows established procedures and policies including infection control and bloodborne pathogens.
• Handles chemicals according to established safety protocols.
• Meets defined workload productivity standards. Supports and utilizes LEAN principles.
• Utilizes courier logistical software and devices to track packages and document route
• Ensures temperature dependent materials are transported at their required storage temperature.
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and courier bags.
• Attends and participates in department huddles.
• Follows established policies and procedures to accurately track packages and obtain optimal transport time.
• Participates in teaching peers.
