Westmoreland County is seeking an experienced Prison Warden to lead the County Prison’s administration, security, and daily operations. This role oversees inmate care, staff, and compliance with regulations, collaborating with the Prison Board, county administration, law enforcement, and courts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Administration of Justice or related field, plus supervisory and computer training.
• 8–10 years of experience in a correctional institution, including 5 years at the supervisory level.
• Strong leadership, decision‑making, and staff-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain overall order and security of prison, staff, and inmates.
• Supervise prison operations and staff; handle personnel matters, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Interview and recommend staff for hiring to the Prison Board.
• Develop and implement policies for efficient prison operation and safety.
• Plan budget forecasts and oversee expenditures after approval.
• Inspect facility and propose corrective actions.
• Meet with employees and unions; conduct disciplinary hearings.
