Service Works Coordinator

Location: Cumberland &York Counties, Maine
Schedule: Full-Time (32–40 hours/week)
Compensation: $22.00 – $24.00 /hour + benefits Benefits Eligible

About ServiceWorks

Service Works is a restorative youth diversion program that supports young people in completing community service obligations while building accountability, life skills, and stronger connections to their communities.

Working closely with schools, law enforcement and community partners. The program provides meaningful service opportunities. Projects may include park cleanups, nonprofit support, community beautification, gardening, light repair work, and other hands‑on projects.

Position Overview
LearningWorks is seeking a Service Works Coordinator to supervise, mentor, and support youth completing restorative community service projects in Cumberland & York Counties.

This role combines youth development, restorative practices, project coordination, and community partnership building. The Coordinator works directly alongside youth in community settings, helping them successfully complete individualized service plans while developing workplace skills, accountability, and confidence.

This position is primarily community-based and in person, with travel throughout southern Maine and occasional administrative work that can be completed remotely.

Successful candidates understand that relationship-building is foundational to this work. Some participants may initially demonstrate hesitation, inconsistent engagement, or limited readiness due to previous experiences, personal challenges, or system involvement. Staff must be able to build trust, maintain clear expectations, and create a structured, supportive environment that encourages responsibility, reflection, and personal growth.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and mentor youth completing restorative community service projects
  • Coordinate meaningful service opportunities with community organizations and municipal partners
  • Transport participants safely to and from service sites using agency vehicles
  • Build supportive, consistent relationships with youth while maintaining accountability and professional expectations
  • Develop and monitor individualized service plans using restorative justice principles centered in restorative practices
  • Coach youth in workplace readiness, teamwork, communication, and professional behavior
  • Facilitate reflective conversations that encourage accountability and personal growth
  • Maintain accurate case documentation, service records, and program reports
  • Collaborate with schools, law enforcement, juvenile justice partners, nonprofits, and community organizations
  • Ensure safe work practices and appropriate use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in criminal justice, human services, education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience working with youth in education, community‑based programs, juvenile justice, corrections, social services, or similar settings
  • Valid Maine driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to frequently transport youth in company owned passenger van
  • Ability to lift 35–50 pounds and participate in physically active community service projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices
  • Experience coordinating community projects or volunteers
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety practices
  • Landscaping, property maintenance, or light construction/tool experience
  • Experience collaborating with schools, law enforcement, nonprofits, or municipal agencies
