Job summary

Macon County Board of Commissioners is seeking an Accounting Technician to provide financial, administrative, and clerical support for county government operations. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities include processing accounts payable, payroll, budgeting support, and maintaining financial records. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years in related experience and must pass a background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2+ years related experience in local government, finance, or accounting.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with officials and staff.
• Ability to learn and operate financial records systems and maintain general ledger.

Responsibilities

• Process and file accounts payable and monthly financial reports.
• Process and reconcile payroll for county employees and elected officials.
• Assist in preparation of the annual budget and maintain financial records.
• Enter information in financial systems and maintain general ledger.
• Generate manual checks for garnishments and insurance transactions; assist with front-office duties.
• Attend monthly Board of Commissioners meetings and record minutes.
