Plimpton & Hills Corporation seeks a full-time Counter Sales Associate at our Farmington, CT branch to assist customers, fulfill material orders, and support daily counter and warehouse operations. You will handle product questions, process orders, input data accurately, and uphold safety and professionalism while providing excellent service in a fast-paced retail setting.

Experience with plumbing, heating, and HVAC products is preferred; forklift and safe handling experience encouraged.

Qualifications

• Counter sales experience preferred.
• Familiarity with plumbing / heating / HVAC industry rules and regulations.
• Result driven and customer focused.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with product orders and fulfill materials accurately.
• Locate and obtain ordered products for customers.
• Assist in handling defective parts and warranty information.
• Process credits for returned products.
• Address questions about product, pricing and availability.
• Maintain up-to-date catalogs and discard expired ones.
• Safely move products of varying weights as needed.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Answer calls professionally and pleasantly.
• Input and fill customer orders accurately.
• Read and identify numbers for accurate order filling and receiving.
• Assist warehouse personnel as needed.
• Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
• Safely operate forklift, pallet jack, etc.
• Stay updated on safety practices and standards.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Position Purpose:

Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with plumbing, heating, and HVAC product orders, accurately fulfilling materials, and supporting daily counter and warehouse operations while maintaining company safety standards and a professional work environment. This is a full-time position based at our Farmington branch.

Essential Functions:

• Actively seek opportunities to help customers.
• Locate and obtain ordered products for customers.
• Assist in the handling of defective parts and warranty information.
• Process approved credits for customers when products are returned.
• Address questions about product, pricing and availability.
• Make sure all product catalogs are up-to-date and that expired ones are discarded.
• Accurately and safely move products of varying weights according to customer needs.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Answer telephone calls professionally and pleasantly.
• Accurately input and fill customer orders.
• Accurately read and identify numbers for accurate order filling and receiving of material.
• Assist warehouse personnel when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and professional work environment.
• Safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, etc.
• Remain up-to-date on all safety practices and standards.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed.

• While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
