Job summary

Ferguson is seeking a knowledgeable, results-driven Counter Sales Associate to support plumbing and HVAC contractor customers with product expertise and problem-solving to meet their business needs.

The ideal candidate builds relationships, drives sales, and delivers exceptional service. Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a friendly, fast-paced team environment at our location.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience in customer service or sales; plumbing/HVAC preferred.
• Strong communication skills for consultative selling.
• Sales orientation with ability to meet goals and influence purchasing decisions.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers at the counter, on the phone, and via email to understand needs and recommend solutions.
• Serve as product expert on plumbing and HVAC products to aid decisions.
• Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities to grow sales.
• Use catalogs and systems to locate parts and provide accurate information.
• Process transactions accurately and maintain a positive customer experience.
• Collaborate with Outside Sales to support account growth.
• Manage special orders, back-orders, and delivery timelines.
