Job Description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for activities in the Count Room to ensure the integrity of currency counting from the gaming floor and compliance with Ohio Lottery Commission regulations. The role also involves providing excellent service to internal and external customers.

Deliver superior guest service and work harmoniously with team members.

  • Protect large amounts of currency, ensuring careful handling to prevent loss.
  • Implement procedures and controls to safeguard counted receipts.
  • Conduct mechanically assisted counts of table drop boxes to determine amounts and wins.
  • Count contents of bill validator boxes.
  • Monitor and report any issues affecting currency security in the Count Room.
  • Reconcile total funds to verify count accuracy.
  • Transfer documentation to the Accounting Department daily.
  • Prepare funds with proper documentation for transfer to the Cage Department.
  • Manage all aspects of the count process, from opening boxes to final reconciliation.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

Typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent, with two months of on-the-job training. Must maintain all regulatory licenses required by the state, pass background checks, and drug screenings. Knowledge of AS/400 systems, 10-key calculators, currency counting equipment, and cashiering or banking operations is required. Effective communication skills and the ability to motivate subordinates are essential. The role is physically demanding, requiring movement, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds, with assistance for pushing/pulling heavy carts up to 2000 pounds. The position involves standing for most of the shift and working in a dynamic environment with varying noise and crowd levels. Flexibility to work different shifts is necessary.
