Alpharus Health in Springfield, IL is seeking a Counselor Supervisor to lead the clinical team at the Springfield Residential Center. The role blends direct client counseling (60% of duties) with supervising counselors and staff to ensure high-quality treatment for adults in a residential setting.

The position follows a Mon-Fri 9AM-5PM schedule with one evening shift and rotating weekends, offering a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or substance use counseling.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in the substance use field.
• CADC certification required.

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive assessment of client’s history and treatment needs.
• Conducts individual and group counseling sessions and documents plans and progress.
• Supervises counselors and directs activities of the treatment program.
• Plans and schedules work time and caseload for staff; audits records.
• Serves as a resource to staff in resolving complex cases.
• Assists in orienting, training, and developing staff.
• Helps develop policies and procedures and enforces them.

Springfield Residential - 2200 Lake Victoria Dr, Springfield, IL 62703

• Residential Center - Adult Male and Female population

Work Schedule:

Mon - Friday, 9AM - 5PM; also includes 1 evening shift and rotating weekends

Counselor Supervisor responsibilities:

• Completes comprehensive assessment of client’s substance abuse history and treatment requirements, and prepares individualized developmentally appropriate treatment plan.
• Conducts individual and group counseling sessions; documents treatment and discharge plans, progress notes, and responses to treatment.
• In addition to the duties of a counselor (60% direct care), supervises counselors and direct care staff; guides and directs activities and operations of assigned treatment program.
• Plans and schedules work time and caseload for assigned staff, and audits client records and documentation.
• Serves as a resource to assigned staff in identifying and resolving complex cases.
• Responsible for orienting, training, and developing assigned staff.
• Assists in developing policies and procedures, interpreting and enforcing the same.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or substance use counseling; or equivalent education and life experience, with a minimum of 100 hours documented clinical training in counseling theory and practice.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in the substance use field.
• Minimum credential of a CADC required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information, provide counseling and direct the work of others.
• Ability to record and proofread information on forms and charts.
• Ability to respond to telephones and pages and hear speech.
• Ability to use a keyboard and monitor display to receive, retrieve and/or audit information and data on a regular basis.

Compensation (based on experience and credentials):

• Range begins at $27.85/hr - $32.28/hr
• Starting rates are determined based on years of experience, qualifications, and relevant skills.
• Alpharus Health conducts annual performance reviews, with merit increase eligibility determined by employee performance and organizational financial performance.
