Job summary

American Addiction Centers is seeking a Counselor-Intern to provide case management, group therapy, and bio-psychosocial assessments to clients within our facility. You will support discharge planning, coordinate resources, and liaise with referral sources while pursuing CADC certification.

Qualifications

• Studying for Drug & Alcohol counseling certification from an accredited institution.
• 2 years’ experience working in a substance abuse environment preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with people and aid them in adjusting to their specific problems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, and other staff.
• Knowledge and experiences in running groups, meetings and/or activities.
• Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide individualized case management, group therapy and bio-psychosocial assessment services.
• Discharge/continuing care planning and placement of clients in conjunction with supervision.
• Maintain communication with referral sources and other service providers; liaise with UR Department on client care.
• Attend weekly 1:1 supervision while working toward CADC certification.
