Counselor

Provide counseling and counseling-related services to university students. Provide mental health consultation and outreach services to the university community.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, processes, and/or protocols for the provision of counseling services in a mental health agency or college or university counseling center.
• Working knowledge of college student development.
• Licensed in VA as a licensed professional counselor, psychologist, or social worker.
• Master’s degree in a mental health field, counseling, social work, or psychology.
• Internship at a University/College Counseling Services or mental health agency.
• Completion of graduate internship at a mental health agency.
• Experience in a mental health or private setting providing mental health treatment services to young adults.
• Doctoral degree in counseling, social work, or psychology (additional consideration).

Conditions of Employment

• Hourly employees are restricted to working 29 hours per week on average or 1,500 hours in total in the May 1 – April 30 period.
• No health insurance, retirement, or leave benefits.
• Part‑time positions work 20 hours per week for nine‑month terms during the academic year.
• Licensed in the state of Virginia in good standing.
• This position is not remote.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
